"I always remember with NTB when it appeared on TV, because the number of children suffering from malnutrition repeatedly aired some time ago," he said at the opening of the Regional Health Working Meeting in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, on Tuesday.
When viewed in terms of food, maybe there will be no malnutrition in NTB, because this area is excess food, so at that time the Governor strongly denied there malnutrition.
"After I came to the NTB and immediately took to the field there are children who suffer from malnutrition is not due to lack of food, but one way of providing food, while the child is suffering from other diseases, so there is no appetite," he said.
"We believe that the Governor of NTB can certainly eliminate the impression of poor nutrition, because the governor is very concerned about health issues, so that the NTB in 2009 in the budget provided by the health funds of 18.5 percent is the largest amount in Indonesia," he explained.
"In addition to eliminating the impression of poor nutrition also is committed to reducing Infant Mortality and Mother Maternity which is still above the national average which recorded 35 per 1,000 live births and Mom Prenatal 228 per 100,000 live births," he said ..
Governor of NTB, K.H. M. Zainul Majdi said, the degree of health and community IPM NTB was ranked 32 out of 33 provinces in Indonesia, due to the low level of competitiveness of the community, low levels of education and economic ability.
Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in the NTB recorded 61.87 per 1,000 live births or above the national average of 35 per 1,000 live births.
"While the average length of the school community NTB only 6.7 years or about 90 percent of the value added is only elementary school education level (SD). For that spending on education and health a top priority in the Year 2009," he said.
In addition to education and health is a priority too populist economics, the development of food security through the optimization of agricultural development, animal husbandry, plantation, forestry, fisheries and environment, he said.
